‘The Amazing Race 26’ episode 11 preview: Should we have another final four?

Next week, “The Amazing Race” seems to be airing a variety of shenanigans, from surfing to more drama to even another potential tire problem. There’s just an added layer of intrigue thanks to one simple question: Are we about to get another final four in the last leg?

This past season, we saw the show try this for the first time, and this twist ended up allowing Amy & Maiya to stun the competition on the way to winning a million bucks. It was a nice little curveball for the show, if for no other reason than that neither we nor the racers saw it coming. This season, we would certainly see it coming, which would make the twist a little more effective. Also, we feel like we are mostly just fond of it last season because it benefited a team we liked. If the twist were to allow a team that was easy to dislike a spot in the finals, we’re not sure we would be speaking about it with so much aplomb (if there is any aplomb at all).

The team that may need it based on the preview tonight is Mike & Rochelle, who seem to have a whole myriad of problems. If this twist does exist, then you can go ahead and render this entire episode next week useless. There is most likely not going to be a Speed Bump for the final leg (there never is), and the only twist could be an early elimination. Before that, though, the four teams will probably be handed a grand equalizer in the form of a flight.
