‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6: A look towards the finale and beyond

More news -It is strange to think that we are already in the home stretch of “The Vampire Diaries” this season, but that does not make it any less true. There are only a few episodes left until we say goodbye to Elena Gilbert potentially forever on the show, but just because this is happening does not necessarily guarantee that the final episode of the spring is going to be sad at all.

Kat Graham is someone who has known Nina Dobrev the entirety of the series, so we do have a tendency to take a lot of stock into what she has to say about an episode. So in hearing her describe the finale to TV Guide, we have some optimism that even though there may be moments of melancholy ahead, this finale could be a celebration of Elena just as much as it is a reminder that she will not be a part of the show anymore:

“I don’t know if it’s a sad thing. Change for a lot of us, for anyone, is very difficult, but I wouldn’t say the episode is going to leave you sad … I think, I’m hoping, people will be excited for what’s next and our journey as a family together. I’m actually happy [because] I think there is some risk-taking in the finale. Even if one chapter closes, sometimes people don’t really deal with things and they don’t end things how they need to, and I’m excited for the fans to see that.”

As we’ve said for some time now, the only thing that we are hoping for with the finale is that it has an open-door policy. We want there to be potential for Dobrev to return for a series finale or something else in the future, mostly because we want there to be some sort of happy ending for her and Ian Somerhalder’s Damon.
