‘Finding Carter’ season 2, episode 5 review: Max’s move on Crash and more

Finding Carter -Finding Carter” is not a show that tends to love happiness very much. Despite a good chunk of the installment tonight taking place at a fair, we still did not see many smiles take place from start to finish.

With that being said, we did see plenty of dishonesty! For example, David and Elizabeth decided to “see other people” as a part of their separation, and then they proceeded to lie to each other about how physical that they got during the entire process. They are trying to co-parent, but it’s clear that they are not doing a very good job at it. The same goes with Carter and her studies; we certainly understand why she would be distracted while at school, given the billion or so problems going on with her life. There’s obviously the havoc in her home life, but to go along with that, you also have to remember here the chaos going on with her and Crash. Just that name alone bleeds insanity.

Also, given the cliffhanger between him and Max at the end of the episode, Crash could be in so much more trouble than he has been in so far. This is a character we are admittedly still trying to get a read on, and it is taking some time.

The biggest criticism of the episode as a whole tonight would strictly be a lack of progress with our female lead. There really was not too much that happened from start to finish in the Carter story to really satisfy us here. While her parents did move forward in a way, it is clearly not in the sort of way that actually gives us a little bit of hope for the future.

Overall, this wasn’t our favorite episode. While there were some notable moments, some others (Taylor’s “study session”) were so easy to predict that it was hard to take them seriously. Grade: C+.
