‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6 spoilers: Ian Somerhalder marries Nikki Reed

Over the weekend, the star of “The Vampire Diaries” married his fiancee in a ceremony in Malibu, which comes following a romance of less than a year. This is a romance that has an ironic sort of vampire charm to it, given that Reed was in the “Twilight” movies and early on during the CW show’s run, Ian and the rest of the cast were forced to answer relentless questions comparing the movies to the show. This is the first marriage for Ian and the second for Nikki, who was previously married to singer / songwriter / “American Idol” alum Paul McDonald.

Now, we come with a little bit of a rant regarding the coverage of the wedding. Rather than waiting for the couple to release some official photos of the ceremony that are beautiful and high-quality, major outlets are posting low-grade paparazzi photos that seem to be invasive, and putting some sort of a damper on their big day. Let’s put it this way to you: How would you feel if you were trying to get married, and had cameramen hiding out around you hoping to get a shot of you?

If we were one of them, what we would actually do here is post an official photo of the wedding on social media. What this will do is lower the money that the paparazzi makes on their photos, and give fans something that is of the best quality possible. Granted, we know that it is a little harder for Ian, given the number of fans still talking about him and Nina Dobrev, and probably would use this opportunity to still talk about it. Even months after their breakup, there were still outlets shamelessly making up stories about them for the sake of traffic.
