‘Call the Midwife’ season 4, episode 5 preview (PBS): Trixie’s struggle, Cynthia’s surprise, and more

Patsy -If only REM was around during the days of “Call the Midwife,” since if it was, we figure during Sunday night’s new episode that at least one person would be singing “Losing My Religion.” There are a variety of struggles for many characters Sunday night on PBS, but not all of them are going to be necessarily clear on the surface.

Since there is going to be a whole lot going on in this episode (there may be more than any other one so far this season), each one of the teases that we have for you below is on a very different storyline.

1. Expect to see Trixie’s struggle and addictions continue to play out following what happened with her and Tom after her engagement went back.

2. Be prepared for the return of Cynthia, but not in the same way that you would expect.

3. Barbara is going to have a major storyline in this episode, and what is going to be great about it is that it is a chance to really see more of the whole world brought into Poplar. This is not something that we tend too see a whole lot of on the show, which tends to often exist in its own little bubble.

4. At least one other major character is going to eventually go into a downward spiral, and who it is really should surprise you given their strength the majority of the time.

We’ll be back tomorrow night with not just a review of tonight’s episode, and also a look at what is going to be coming up beyond that.
