‘The X Factor’ UK: The Mel B – Rita Ora rumors pick up steam again

At this particular moment in time, you really should not be altogether surprised that there are rumors saying that Rita Ora could be a judge on “The X Factor” UK. There were rumors last year, and there could be rumors again next year if she is not chosen for a spot on the panel. Ultimately, it seems like she is going to be forever linked to the show (which she previously served as a guest-judge for) unless she actually comes out and says that she does not want the gig. We’re not sure that this will happen, so we may be forever stuck with the speculation.

So what is the latest in a long series of rumors? Ultimately, it revolves around the notion that Rita’s history on “The Voice” UK makes her an unsuitable candidate to replace Mel B. It should be stated that Mel has not confirmed that she will be leaving the show at all, but this speculation is still speculation nonetheless.

Speaking per The Sun, here is what a source had to say about the current conflict going on over the singer:

“It’s a real battle of wills … ITV sees X Factor as vastly superior to The Voice. They don’t want a judge who they see as a cast-off. As far as they are concerned, Rita’s now out of the picture.”

To be honest, this quote feels to us like complete hogwash for one simple reason: Alesha Dixon. ITV clearly had no problem taking her from “Strictly Come Dancing” for “Britain’s Got Talent.” Even though these two shows are very different, they are still network competitors with humor to boot. If ITV would do that, why not take someone in Rita who is well-known?
