‘Game of Thrones’ season 5, episode 3 preview: ‘High Sparrow’ and another wedding

High Sparrow -Everyone loves weddings on “Game of Thrones,” right? Well, the real truth here is that almost no one should love them at this point. We already had the huge tragedy of the Red Wedding, and then a pretty shocking result to Margaery’s attempt to marry Joffrey. The chain of events in “The Lion and the Rose” are what ultimately has set us up now for Sunday night’s “High Sparrow,” which could end up featuring the nuptials of Natalie Dormer’s character and Tommen, Joffrey’s younger and kinder brother.

Is there great danger of another character dying in this episode? We suppose that it is possible. Cersei hates Margaery on enough of a level that it could lead to her hiring someone to kill her, even thought that does to us still feel relatively unlikely. There should not be as much motivation to kill someone off here. Neither Tommen nor Maragery can be considered a terrible person, and the only real criticism we could see there being is that she is much older than he is, and the idea of child becoming married is rather jarring.

Now that we’ve said that, the biggest tease we can offer in this episode is to prepare for the arrival of High Sparrow. This is a new dynamic that is being introduced into King’s Landing, and it is not something that we have spent too much time discussing to date.

As a bonus feature, HBO released a video (see below) recently that takes you behind the scenes of Croatia. Not only is Dubrovnik the setting for King’s Landing, but the nearby city of Split has become a double for Meereen.
