‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6, episode 19 review: Caroline’s transformation; the cure conundrum
There are two separate things that are apparent through watching Thursday night’s all-new episode of “The Vampire Diaries.” First and foremost, we had a chance to see Caroline start to really make some strides in the right direction (meaning towards being a human again). Then to go along with that, we also had an opportunity to see more and more of the story related to the vampire cure, the one thing that is establishing what the endgame could be for Elena Gilbert at the end of the day.
Is it possible that Elena will finally become a human again? It seems more and more like what she wants, and we have to think that eventually, she will get there. The question here is simply whether or not she will get there with Damon.) We’re going to reserve judgment on the exit until the story ends, but for the time being we will say that we feel like it makes a good bit of sense.
As for Jo and Alaric preparing for their future with a wedding, we’re happy for them! In general, we are glad anytime that you have something happy going on when it come to these characters.
The good news for Caroline is that she is going to be able to prepare to say goodbye to Elena thanks to her humanity being finally turned back on. The problem? She is harboring so much guilt over what happened, and shunning Stefan is a part of it. Ultimately, this episode left us with a somewhat bitter feeling thanks to this. We don’t want to continually beat around the bush when it comes to these characters. Can’t there be some happiness here? Grade: B-.
