‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11, episode 22 will be two-hour episode

The future -

Apparently, some folks over at ABC have been working overtime to ensure that “Grey’s Anatomy” is the best season that it can possibly be. How else do you possibly fathom the fact that we are getting a two-hour episode of the series next week?

We already told you that the next new episode of the show is entitled “She’s Leaving Home,” and we know now to go along with this news that it will be a rousing two-hour spectacle. Given that there are still two episodes airing after that, in some ways this is technically evolving into a 25-episode season. That is a lot of story crammed into a very short amount of time! The only reason that we feel like this show can pull this sort of massive episode order off is because they have such an enormous cast. By and large, that makes the entire process so much easier than it would otherwise be.

Due to this little change, the final episodes of “Scandal” beyond tonight’s one will be pushed back ever so slightly, and will now air on May 7 and May 14. In some ways, it’s smart to get as much good TV crammed into the sweeps period as possible. ABC wants to make money, and given all of the speculation right now regarding whether or not Derek is going to make it through tonight’s episode, there is the potential for a huge viewership to flock over to this show.

We will definitely have some more news when it comes to “Grey’s Anatomy” later tonight, so don’t go away from CarterMatt for too long.
