‘Daredevil’ season 2 official; Netflix renews Charlie Cox series

You can probably file this under one of the least-surprising news stories that we’ve written about all day. After generating a great deal of publicity over the course of the past several weeks, it has now been confirmed that Netflix has renewed “Daredevil” for a second season. The Charlie Cox series has already shown itself to be very popular, and it has also provided another great bit of superhero drama in a medium that is started to become stuffed with great comic adaptations.

“Daredevil” was first picked up to be one of many series in a collaboration between Netflix and Marvel; there is also “AKA Jessica Jones” coming, and to go along with that, there is a series all about Luke Cage being planned. Giving “Daredevil” another season basically allows for the show to continue to expand, and become a fantastic retelling of the comics with its own twist to go along with it. Also, it has all of the little MCU Easter eggs to go along with it.

Unfortunately, there is not really any way of knowing just how successful the show has been in its early days. Netflix is notoriously guarded when it comes to releasing ratings and viewer totals for their shows; the only thing that is truly known at this point is just how popular their programming is on social media. This show has fared well to date, but we would not say it is on the level of “House of Cards” or “Orange Is the New Black.” Season 2 of “Daredevil” will most likely air in 2016.

This is a busy week for Netflix, given that earlier today it was first announced that the service has picked up “Fuller House,” an adaptation of the original “Full House” sitcom.
