‘iZombie’ season 1, episode 7 review: Are Liv and Lowell still dating?
With Liv now ready to move on from Major (or at least is able to kiss another zombie), we are wondering what the next step for Liv and her new romance will be. Is she ready to go any further then kissing and get into a relationship? Zombie love is something we haven’t seen a lot of on TV, so we are interested to see how it all turns out.
The case of the week involves a young pregnant woman who was murdered (the baby survived) and after eating her brains, Liv is having some serious maternal instincts. Things get even more intense for Liv when she realizes that the father of the child (who’s not the greatest person) is going to end up with the child. What we found really interesting was that after Liv gets shot, and no blood comes out, the lieutenant starts to suspect she may be a zombie too.
Ravi is still pushing the zombie research and with Lowell in the picture Ravi has more zombies to work with on a cure. When Liv brings up her coming over to see Lowell for a date, he gives her a cold kiss and a punch in the arm saying “awesome sauce”. Is it just the brains he ate talking or is he no longer interested in her? When Liv and Lowell have their date and she tries to kiss him again, he comes clean about what’s happening: He’s eaten the brains of a gay man and until they wear off they are going to have some platonic fun. Luckily he is still very interested in her!
When Major and a reporter call Clive to find out more about the missing kids, Clive is run so thin that he’s unable to help – unfortunately because there was a reporter on the line (that he didn’t know about) a story gets published about how the police department isn’t helping the missing kids and Clive starts getting heat at work again. On his own again, Major breaks into the car of the man he thinks is the candyman and finds a brain. Unfortunately for Major, the cops show up to arrest him for breaking into the car, but he’s got some more information now.
While we are really digging the blossoming romance between Liv and Lowell, we aren’t that interested in what’s going on with Major and if it wasn’t linked back to the zombie storyline, we could lose Major altogether and the story would be a lot tighter. Plus we would have time to get to know Ravi, Clive and even Liv’s family better. Episode grade: C+
