‘The Originals’ season 2 spoilers: Is there much more death to come?

If you watch “The Originals” with any sort of regularity or even “The Vampire Diaries” before it, you probably know very well already that death is more or less an inevitability. It happens often, and really the only thing that you can do is be as prepared for it as possible. Just this past week, we saw the show kill off a landmark character for the series in Mikael. Sure, this is something that has happened before with Sebastian Roche on this show, but every indication that we get right now suggests that this death will be sticking.

However, this death really could be just the tip of the iceberg for what is a summer ultimately stuffed with carnage. For more on that, just take a look at what executive producer Michael Narducci has to say per Entertainment Weekly:

“There are a few more deaths and they are just as heartbreaking and really, really sad.”

At this point, there are very few people who we suspect the show wouldn’t kill. Almost everyone will and could very well be fair game. The only person we would vaguely consider to be safe at the moment is Klaus, given that he is the anchor of the entire series. We worry slightly about Elijah because Daniel Gillies is constantly balancing a million different things, but after losing Claire Holt it’d be really strange if most of the Originals we actually know very well are gone from this show.

Regardless of who it is, we are probably going to be left with a whole lot more to talk about later this spring.
