ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 4 spoilers: Show boss on red sharpie surprise

Who was circling the face of Emily Thorne on “Revenge“? This is one of the biggest mysteries remaining this season (at least on-camera; the fate of the show is an off-camera one), but it luckily may not take too much time to figure out who this person is. As a matter of fact, you may learn by the end of Sunday night’s new episode entitled “Burn,” and it is designed to completely blow your socks off.

The biggest clue that we can offer you now is what executive producer Sunil Nayar told TVLine recently: “It’s a fabulous re-entry into the show, one of the greatest sequences we’ve done on this show … It will literally blow people’s minds what happens at the end of that episode.” The implication here is obviously that this character is someone who was a big part of the show previously, but is not at present. They have to be someone so important that we would want to see them again.

There are several interesting candidates as to who it could be. Take, for example, Conrad Grayson. Sure, we seemingly saw him die, but we spent three years thinking David Clarke was dead! Why wouldn’t that also change? Seeing Emily’s mother would also be a very impactful reveal, or even someone like Aiden Mathis (also presumed dead) would make a big mark.

The only person we don’t foresee it being at the moment is Charlotte, mostly because we already know she is returning to the show at some point this season. Given that, how do you really make her return into a surprise? The answer here is that you can’t.
