‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 8 spoilers: Could Penny and Leonard pick a wedding date?

While it still seems unlikely that you are going to see a wedding between Leonard and Penny on “The Big Bang Theory” this season, it is starting to feel more and more likely that something else could happen that at least gets us closer to this big moment: The couple actually choosing a wedding date! This seems to be one of the first known details about the upcoming May 7 finale entitled “The Commitment Determination,” which was announced today by CBS in a press release.

Just in case you do not care so much for the Penny / Leonard romance, the short synopsis below also makes it clear that there is something big coming for Amy and Sheldon, as well:

“Sheldon (Jim Parsons) pushes Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) to choose a date for their wedding and deals with dramatic changes in his own relationship with Amy (Mayim Bialik).”

What could these changes be? Given that the words “deals with dramatic changes” are used here, it does not seem as though he solely is responsible for them. Could it be a shared thing, like the two getting more physical or deciding that they really should start living with each other? All are possibilities. The only thing we’d be genuinely shocked to see is an engagement, mostly because we’re already dealing with that same storyline elsewhere.

Also, can we at least comment for a second on what is going on with Raj? While his relationship with Emily was an key early component of the season, we have not heard a whole lot about it sense.
