‘Once Upon a Time’ unofficially renewed for season 5

Once -Is there more “Once Upon a Time” coming up? it definitely seems that way now, based on the latest coming out this morning. In an interview with Josh Dallas on KTLA this morning (thanks to SpoilerTV for the find), the show has been picked up for a fifth season. Dallas specifically mentions that he goes back to work on the ABC series in July for what will be another string of episodes.

For those curious about hearing the announcement for themselves, you can see it near the end of the video below. We are still labeling this an “unofficial” renewal since it has not been confirmed by ABC just yet, but there was never really any doubt with this. “Once Upon a Time” is an enormous hit for ABC in America, and it is tremendously popular overseas, as well. While its ratings are down for the second half of the season, it does still remain the most-successful scripted drama on the network not executive-produced by Shonda Rhimes.

Also, one of the great things about this show is that there really are not any limitations to the story that it can tell. You’ve got an almost-unlimited pool of fairy tales that you can explore, and that in itself is exciting. Our prediction right now is that we’ll somehow see more of Cinderella in season 5. Jessy Schram’s time with “Falling Skies” is ending, and with the Disney movie out in theaters now, it only makes sense for her to come back in some form.

Of course, we’ll have more news related to the show soon. Stay tuned!
