‘Britain’s Got Talent’ preview: Meet Boyband (who are not actually a band)
Let us start this particular “Britain’s Got Talent” preview article by at least giving Boyband a little bit of credit for coming up with a gimmick that got our attention right away. Their name is obnoxiously silly, and we thought this before we even realized that they were not actually a band. Instead, they are a dance crew! Maybe there is a little bit of parody going on here, but above all else they are very good at what they do.
You can see the guys strut their stuff to the Mark Ronson / Bruno Mars hit below, and it takes all of a few seconds for them to impress the judges. These guys already seem to be much aware of what is one of the biggest problems that dance crews tend to have on this show, and that is standing out longer than just a minute or two. Many dance crews tend to just blend together, especially when you get to the latter portion of the competition when there are still a few of them left.
Above all else, let’s just hope that this show overall delivers some great performances. While we’ve already seen one very talented person in Calum Scott, we want there to be some legitimate competition from start to finish this season, not to mention a few people who could actually become legitimate stars by the end of the season. We’ll have to see ultimately what happens there, but for the time being, we’re not seeing any breakouts.
