‘NCIS’ season 12 spoilers: At least one continuous story ahead
The idea of a lengthier story arc on “NCIS” is not entirely a foreign concept. This show has done three-parters before, and not to mention the crossover that it used to launch the New Orleans series last year. Therefore, it does not come as a complete shocker that they are presenting something at the end of this month that spans multiple episodes, and related to something in cyber-crime, something that the show does not always delve into every week.
Recently, we posted the first details about this story in “Troll,” the upcoming April 28 episode. You can read more about that over here. Meanwhile, we are here today with some information about the second part of the story, which is entitled “The Lost Boys” and airs on Tuesday, May 5. Take a look at the synopsis for it below:
“The NCIS cyber case turns into a united global effort after evidence confirms “The Calling,” an international terrorist group that recruits children through the internet, has been purchasing S-bombs off the black market, on NCIS, Tuesday, May 5 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network. Matt Jones returns as NCIS Special Agent Ned Dorneget.”
For those of you who appreciate Jones’ work, this is a nice opportunity to see him in two consecutive episodes. There is also something else that you have to wonder after reading this synopsis: Are we getting set for an extensive story arc that leads all the way into the finale? There is only one more episode after “The Lost Boys,” and since the show is almost surely being renewed and has many of its cast members under contract, we firmly expect there to be some sort of shocking case and potential cliffhanger to close us off.

I heard that they’re killing off someone…I hope it’s not Tony, since you all don’t like him or something.

Since it’s an arc that will be promoted I’m guessing this will be another big McGibbs story. These are the only two characters that they seem to try to flatter with compelling stories. I wish they’d spread the goodies around, but I’ve all but given up on seeing Tony ever be anything but the weekly joke or clicker clicking window dressing. With the children involved in the case, this will not doubt be another Gibbs showcase, righteously defending the underdog and showing his noble compassion and selfless heroism while SIC McGee and Dornegut handle the cyber side of things. This has become the McGibbs show.

This show has been the Ziva and Tiva show for years so it is absolutely refeshing to see the show focusing on the others again. Have you been complaining all the time when Tony was nothing but the punching bag and joke for Ziva? Tony has gotten lots of screentime in the past years, it is absolutely fine that McGee gets some, too now. If this show and the way Tony is written is so annoying and disappointing to you then simply stop watching and stop complaining all the single time there is a new article posted. There are many people who are happy to see McGee getting some Spotlight after all those years being in the shadow of Super-DiNozzo/Tiva/Ziva.

Tony was rarely “super” during the Tiva years – that honour went to Ziva. Tony got to stand around while she beat up the bad guys, stand around while she became Gibbs’ favoured child, and stand around while she and McGee made him, in Michael Weatherly’s own words, “the idiot child in the corner”.
Personally, I’d much rather the team as a whole get airtime rather than have the focus be on one character to the detriment of others.

Agree Lisa. Tony was a mere accessory for Ziva for the most part. Even if he did get a significant part in which to shine as an actor (Truth or Consequences) the plot was always centered around ZIva. It wouldn’t be so disappointing if Tony had always been a third tier character or the butt of nearly every joke with very few other redeeming character traits except that he was handsome from the start. But this character’s demotion to nothing more than the occasional obligatory uninspired C plot is quite disappointing to fans who fell for a much more of a multi dimensional, significant character. As I write this, I realize that no one in power in the NCIS empire cares about Weatherly, Tony, or his fans. It’s over for all of us. I fully expect more of nothing for Tony in the finale arc and would be astoundingly shocked if I’m wrong. Personally, although I have absolutely no proof whatsoever, I believe that TPTB – Harmon and co – have decided to dump on Weatherly/Tony knowing that for Weatherly to quit would be an extremely difficult thing to do career wise and financially. I don’t know what to hope for anymore since I think Tony is doomed to be demeaned if he stays but I really enjoy Weatherly as a performer whose personality and unique talent is the one thing that makes this who unique.

Honestly, if Weatherly was so unhappy with the writting for his character he would go and leave. And you actually act like Harmon would be the boss. He isn’t. He has no influence on the writing Progress. They all have the opportunity to ‘complain’ or give Input to the writers.
I’m in no way a fan of Harmon but I’m sick of people like you who put the blame for everything they’re not pleased with at Harmon. First it was the Cote and Ziva fans, then the Tiva fans and now the Tony fans do the very same. Stop it. He’s not responsible for everything. As Ariana said, if you have so many problems with the show and the way it is written then stop watching. Don’t be a childish dickhead.

Seems like McGee and Abby should feature prominently in this episode since we are talking cyber crime. Hope Dorneget makes it through the season finale. I can’t imagine anything that might be a cliffhanger that they haven’t already done before except kill someone else off. Of course various team members will be left in danger. I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Really hope that all the team survive. Since it’s a cyber crime focussed ep Tim and Abby should be just fine since they’ll both be sitting behind a computer playing on a keyboard. It’s only in the last year or two that Tim has been allowed out of the office.
I noted that everyone is complaining that Tony isn’t getting much besides the side kick role and I’m floored by that comment as it always looked like he and Gibbs were the two main characters and everyone else was support. I’ve rarely seen Tim in an action scene were he fired his weapon or had his life on the line.
It’s fabulous and frankly ground breaking that a show is actually developing character personalities. Tony is maturing at loooong last. Tim isn’t so gullible anymore. It’s all good stuff and I can’t wait for the next season.
