‘Scorpion’ season 1, episode 22 (finale) review: Paige kisses Walter, Cabe is forgiven
Last week’s episode of “Scorpion” had all the makings of a great finale: We had Paige leaving the team, Cabe resigning after Walter threatened to quit and then Walter driving off a cliff in a Ferrari. Since we are facing a two-part finale this season, we are hoping for a little resolution, because these are a lot of crazy situations to leave us hanging on until next season.
Happy, Toby and Sylvester are worried that with Walter, Paige and Cabe gone that there’s no more Scorpion team, so they call Cabe for help, but he ignores their call… and quits his job with homeland completely. When Megan calls Sylvester saying that Walter missed her weekly appointment, they know that something is wrong.
Team Scorpion and Megan are not the only people trying to reach Walter, Ralph is also calling him, but when there is no answer, Paige calls him and tells his answering machine that he’s being a selfish jerk. Talking about people who might be being a little selfish, Paige got an earful from Happy about worming her way into their lives and then ripping her and Ralph away from them. Getting told off by Happy Quinn does not look like a good time.
They get the VIN for the car that Walter got, and head out to the location to find Walter’s car off a cliff and hanging precariously… and he’s still alive, but he’s impaled and can’t move. The one thing we were worried about was that Walter’s brilliant brain may have been damaged in the accident, but luckily it wasn’t. When the police show up, Happy and Toby’s mouths quickly get themselves put in the back of a police car, so the call Cabe and he shows up to help.
Walter asks for Paige and Ralph when he thinks he’s going to die and they send out someone to find her, but he also clears things up with Cabe, saying that he knows Cabe didn’t hide the bombing information to be malicious and they squash their problems. Paige and Ralph learn about Walter and they leave the airport to get to him.
Eventually they come up with the idea to hook Cabe up to a crane and lower him down to attach a wire to Walter and pull him up, but if the car falls, then Cabe goes with it. Paige shows up at the scene, but before he’s able to tell her that he loves her, Cabe saves him from the car and pulls him to safety.
At the hospital we learn that Paige has decided not to go to Maine anymore and that Walter is going to make it out of this alive. When Walter learns that Paige is staying it’s the first time we have seen him smile in a few episodes. Paige decides to stay at the hospital with Walter while everyone else takes off and while Walter is sedated Paige kisses him and tells him that she has feelings for him.
It was tough to watch Walter eulogizing himself as his life hung in the balance, but we were happy to see him find peace with Cabe over what happened. We knew there would be some hanging bits left at the end of season 1, but this was one storyline we really wanted to see wrapped up. While this season started out a little rough, it’s easily become one of our favorite shows and we cannot wait until season 2 is here. Episode grade: A

I want them to continue where they left off, with Paige by Walter’s side.

Great Episode. I loved how every time the team solved one problem, another one presented itself. From the fire to that darned bird, it must have been a blast writing this one in the writers room. Cant wait for Season 2.

…..it’s been a LONG while since such palpable chemistry leapt off the small screen – you can TELL (WARNING: this MAY constitute a SPOILER for some) just how VERY much Katherine and Elyes love each other from that last scene and, in these noncommital times, it was incredibly gratifying to witness! Without a SINGLE exception, Scorpion is THE best cast show currently on television…..

This episode was great! Well done to the cast and crew for a great season! It wasn’t necessary to have a cliffhanger leading to Season 2, in my opinion, because they just had one with the previous episode. Some people complain about this show not being realistic at times, but that’s why they call it entertainment. If one watches a show and expects everything to be realistic, then they just don’t know Hollywood. To the naysayers…try writing and directing something like this yourself and then see how far that gets you.
I was finally glad to see that Paige confessed her true feelings to Walter after making a blunder about going to Maine, although it was too bad that she did so while he was sedated. Gabel’s acting really shined through here, too. Although Walter referencing the past was hard to watch, I was glad to see that Cabe came through and saved him. For some reason, having Robert Patrick balanced on a winch wire on the side of a cliff reminded me of a scene out of Terminator 2. Although I’m sad that I won’t be able to see any new episodes of this show until September, I’m grateful that CBS has renewed it, because having only one season of this show is simply not enough.

I loved the ending. It was full of suspense, emotion and and romance (Thankfully not gag worthy) I can’t wait for season 2 although I am sad that we have to wait until next fall.

I agree with the A grade. I’m glad they resolved so much instead of leaving us with a “cliffhanger”. lol Good finale.
