‘Blue Bloods’ season 5 finale spoilers: A shooting and serious danger

Blue Bloods season 5While we do appreciate the side of police work that “Blue Bloods” brings to us on a weekly basis, one of our greatest critiques that we have is that by and large, the majority of the stories revolve around the same exact thing. That includes seeing some sort of major case for Danny and Baez to take on, and also a political problem for Frank to tackle from his office.

What makes the two-part finale for the series rather exciting is that for the most part, it will be following a slightly different beat. One part of the story will carry into another, and the finale could extent into next season depending on what happens. CBS released the synopsis today for their final episode of season 5 entitled “The Art of War,” and it certainly sounds like something that could reverberate for some time:

“When a member of the Reagan clan is shot, Danny’s tries to track down the gang member responsible, without letting his emotions get the best of him. Also, he must get creative in order to bring in witnesses, in the conclusion of the two-part fifth season finale.”

One of the smart moves made by CBS here is not limiting the candidates in any way. Danny seems to be the only one who is definitively safe, which means that Frank, Erin, Linda, and Jamie are prime candidates / targets. We imagine that there are other possibilities such as Henry, as well, but these are four of the primary characters. While we’re worried about them, getting shot does not necessarily mean a character death is coming.
