‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6: Julie Plec on finale, Nina Dobrev’s exit, more

Vampire Diaries -Julie Plec has been one of the architects of “The Vampire Diaries,” but unfortunately the past few days have been a little rough on her following the news of Nina Dobrev’s exit. We have heard more bizarre conspiracy theories on the internet about this than we ever through possible. Nobody wants to see characters sad or without their desired ending, but isn’t Julie’s work one of the reasons that we like characters like Elena and Damon so much?

Anyway, this weekend the showrunner answered a variety of questions on Twitter to fans, so we thought it may be prudent to give you some highlights here for those of you are not necessarily the most savvy in the ways of social media:

1. First and foremost, Plec says that the finale table read led to many tears. Happy or sad tears? We’ll see.

2. There is nothing for Klaus and Caroline in the near future, but she took a “never say never” approach on the future.

3. She’s not much of a fan of the Bonnie / Kai ‘ship that exists out there.

4. As for Enzo, she openly admits that the team has “fumbled” the ball in regards to his story. More will be coming soon.

5. What Nina said in her Instagram post is 100% the truth about why she is leaving. No conspiracies here!

6. She described the relationship between Bonnie and Damon as “friends,” and “maybe on the way to being best friends.”

7. The future of crossovers with “The Originals” is unclear, given that one show could do a bigger time jump than the other.

8. As for if Nina will appear on a potential series finale, all Plec would say is that we will learn more after this season ends.

Mad respect to Plec for taking questions at this sort of tense time in the fandom to begin with, and we are excited to see how the show ends. It will be strange to see how the show goes on at first without Elena, but as we’ve said, it seems like a disservice to end everything if there are some more stories left to tell.
