MTV Movie Awards 2015: Amy Schumer hosts; Dylan O’Brien, Shailene Woodley among winners
Much of the time when we cover awards shows here at CarterMatt, we do our best to give you as much analysis as possible. However, that is a little bit more difficult with the MTV Movie Awards. We’re not much of a movie site, and have not really seen all of the nominees. The thing that you really should remember above all else here is that this is a populist awards show, which means that the majority of the winners are typically people and films that have a huge following.
This show was hosted by Amy Schumer, who we still remember from her days as a contestant on “Last Comic Standing” or even the short-lived Comedy Central series entitled “Reality Bites Back.” Most of the winners below have at least some sort of past or present TV tie.
Movie of the Year – “The Fault in Our Stars”
Best Male Performer – Bradley Cooper, “American Sniper”
Best Female Performer – Shailene Woodley, “The Fault in Our Stars”
Best Duo – Zac Efron and Dave Franco, “Neighbors”
Best Fight – Dylan O’Brien (“Teen Wolf”) vs. Will Poulter, “The Maze Runner”
Best On-Screen Transformation – Elizabeth Banks, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.”
Basically, the show was dominated mostly by a series of young adult adaptations, which really should not surprise you given that this is also what the entire “Twilight Saga” was. The same goes for all of the “Harry Potter” movies.
As for Schumer, let’s just say that she was hit-or-miss. This is never an easy show to host, and we’ll at least give her some credit for trying to put herself out there. With that being said, that bit with the bow and arrow was painful.
