‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4 spoilers: On Emma, darkness, and destiny

Once -

Is Emma Swan really on the way to become a Queen of Darkness on “Once Upon a Time“? While it may be a little too early to say that this is a certainty, for the time being much of the evidence is certainly pointing in the direction that she will be challenged, often in a pretty significant way. The reveal on the last new episode that Snow and Charming lied to her about her past is going to be an enormous issue for her.

Just to get a sake of where this story is heading, executive producer Edward Kitsis tells Entertainment Weekly that really much of the rest of the season will revolve around Emma’s loyalties, and also a little bit of whether or not there can be redemption for her parents at the same time:

“That’s what we’re going to explore for the next few episodes … From episode 17 to the end, you’re going to see it’s a lot about Emma—will she go dark—and it’s also about this Author and what he can or cannot do. She’s going to get an opportunity to alter her parents’ past mistakes and she’s going to have an unlikely ally, which is Regina.”

Ultimately, we do feel like there is some potential for there to be some really great drama this season; as a matter of fact, we’d say that it could be some of the best drama that we have ever seen on the show to date. Now, we just have to hope that it is going to really build as far as tension goes. What’s interesting is that the show is touching on a theme under the surface this year: Destiny. Does it really matter what an Author says? Can you not create authority over your own life? We’re going to have to wait to figure it out.
