‘The Bachelorette’ spoilers: Creator promises surprises for Britt Nilsson / Kaitlyn Bristowe season

“The Bachelorette” now has an official premiere date of May 18, and to go along with that, we also have now a first look (via People) at Britt Nilsson and Kaitlyn Bristowe in action as the two leads for this season! Unfortunately, we cannot really sit here and say with a straight face that this is the most spectacular picture that producers could have ever come up with. It looks hokey, like someone just put the logo and premiere date on top of a generic picture taken at the house. We’re also not a big fan of the way that the two ladies in Kaitlyn Bristowe and Britt Nilsson were told to pose, either. It looks awkward.

Also, did we mention that this idea is terrible? We’re not going to claim it is sexist since Britt and Kaitlyn both signed up for it, and this same twist has already been done before with men being picked by women; what it is incredibly cruel, especially since these are people who have already been heartbroken once on TV. When you are named the Bachelor or the Bachelorette, we feel like that should be your opportunity to not have to worry about getting sent away in the first episode or two.

In a post on Twitter, creator Mike Fleiss insists below that there are some “firsts” that take place this season. Given that you have a twist that has only been done once before, you are really setting yourself well to have them! We just hope that one way or another, they get the twist over and done with soon. We also don’t understand why they had it since all polls online (plus the studio audience at the finale) suggested that Kaitlyn was more of the consensus choice. Why not give Britt a primo spot on “Bachelor in Paradise”?
