‘Justified’ series finale spoilers: Watch first promo of ‘The Promise’ now

If there was a way to summarize the final season of “Justified” in thirty seconds, we feel like the promo for “The Promise” does that and then some. This is a perfect reminder of almost everything that we’ve had a chance to see on the show when it comes to loyalty, brutality, and justice, which we feel are three of this backwoodsy show’s calling cards.

Of course, this promo does not reveal much of anything when it comes to what will actually take place in the episode, save for a little gunfire, a car chase, and Raylan hunting for Boyd. These two and also Ava seem to have all formulated their own exit strategy from Harlan in one way or another, but we figure that all three probably aren’t going to walk away from all of this. Heck, we wouldn’t be that shocked if all of them died.

The biggest thing that we can hope from this final episode is strictly an element of surprise, whether it be a guest character we don’t see coming or a few twists and turns pulled on us at the last second. This has never been a show to follow the lead of others that are out there, so why in the world would it start now? Life’s a little more entertaining when there is an air of spontaneity, and this is one of the show’s specialties.

For now, we’re not going to be too worried about the show’s “legacy,” or whether or not it meets any enormous expectations that we have. We’re really just angling for a good time.
