‘Battle Creek’ episode 7 preview: Candice Bergen joins Dean Winters, Josh Duhamel

There was a lot of fun to be had with Sunday night’s “Battle Creek” episode. How could there not be when you consider a title like “Cereal Killer”? This was a chance to learn about breakfast, and to get a great guest appearance from Patton Oswalt as the mayor of Battle Creek.

Next week, the CBS mystery show introduces you to another valuable person in the life of lead character Russ Agnew: His mother. How she turns up, and her history with some past criminal dealings, both set her up to be tremendously exciting. For a few more details, take a look at the short synopsis now courtesy of CBS:

“Russ is forced to turn to the last person he wants help from to assist on a murder investigation: his mother, a convicted counterfeiter and con artist, on BATTLE CREEK, Sunday, April 12 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network.  Multiple Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Candice Bergen guest stars as Constance, Russ’ mother.”

Anytime that the show can introduce some more familiar faces to make up the town, it is something that we are happy with. The same goes for having this particular guest star be Bergen, since her talent should help to make up for the “con artist parent” part of the story. Whether it be “Chuck” or “Psych” or “Chicago PD,” we have seen so many parents behaving badly that it’s not even funny. Many of them also have a long, elaborate history of pulling long cons and getting themselves out of trouble.
