‘Call the Midwife’ season 4, episode 2 preview (PBS): Teases on Patsy, Phyllis, and more
Sunday night at 8:00 p.m. Eastern will bring another new episode of “Call the Midwife” to the BBC, and this one is hopefully going to serve as an opportunity to see a little more of some familiar faces and a couple of new ones as well. This is where the show will continue what is in many ways a massive transition for them. The character of Jenny Lee is gone, and there will be others who take a back seat while Barbara and others step up to the plate.
Being that it is the fourth season, we are continuing our recent tradition of giving you four specific teasers for the upcoming episode! Don’t worry; we are not giving anything too major away.
1. A woman named Abigail is going to be at the center of one major story in this episode, and she is going to be forced to deal with a very heartbreaking story regarding childbirth. (Makes sense, given the title for this show.) What she is going to learn during the process, though, is that this may be even more heartbreaking than she first imagined.
2. The arrival of Phyllis to Nonnatus House is an interesting one, as she is a woman who demands a great deal of control and attention. Whether or not she receives this remains to be seen.
3. You have hopefully started to come to know and love the character of Patsy, and a whole new part of her life is going to be exposed that makes some sense, given some comments that we first heard from her during this past season.
4. Do not expect a whole lot of Chummy, and it’s also fair to say that Trixie is going to take a little more of a backseat in this episode than the premiere, where she had a chance to celebrate her engagement.
There is quite a bit going on during this “Call the Midwife” episode clearly, and while there may be moments in here where your heart starts to hurt a little, hopefully there will be others where you feel it warmed.
