‘The X Factor’ UK spoilers: Simon Cowell tells Cheryl Fernandez-Virsini she will stay
It looks like the Cheryl Fernandez-Virsini rumors on “The X Factor” were open at almost the same exact time that they really began. Earlier this week, the buzz was that the pop star could be one of the casualties of a massive overhaul planned by the show and the network ITV, who is desperate to try to inject some new blood in a constant / obsessive war with the BBC’s hit “Strictly Come Dancing.”
Well, go ahead and nix those rumors now. According to a brand-new report coming in today from The Sun, Simon Cowell has more or less told Cheryl that he will do everything in his power to make sure that she stays. This seems to be the right move; she’s fairly popular with viewers, and she was a part of the series back when it was in its heyday.
However, a source tells the publication that what is good for Cheryl may not be so good for fellow judge Mel B:
“They haven’t signed a deal yet but Simon, Cheryl and ITV are all on the same page. But that’s really bad news for Mel. She had a good first year but bosses want a new line-up.”
At this point, we will start to believe the rumors when we actually start to see the judging panel officially announced. We’re sure that either Louis Walsh or Mel will probably be gone, mostly because there is probably something to the talk about Robbie Williams joining the panel.
We at least do know officially now that Dermot O’Leary is out at host, and the present talk is that Caroline Flack and Olly Murs are in possible talks to become the new hosts. We’ll see what happens there.
