‘Outlander’ episode 10 preview: Enter the Duke of Sandringham
Tonight, “Outlander” returned with the first of its final eight episodes of the season, and it was in so many ways a portrait into the mind of Jamie Fraser. This gave us a chance to further understand that while he may love his wife Claire very much, he has his own fair share of flaws and demons that he is working to battle through. Some of these are even going to take quite a long period of time for him to handle, as he is still steeped in traditions that do not really apply to the person that she is or the relationship that they have.
So where is the story going to be going moving forward? The arrival of the Duke of Sandringham will change things massively, given that his past with the character will star to be exposed more. Meanwhile, the synopsis via TV Guide reveals that Claire will find herself looking after someone who has suffered mightily the pains of this world, as well:
“With the arrival of the Duke of Sandringham, Jamie hopes the price on his head will be lifted, while Claire cares for an abandoned child.”
Could this child be a proper bridge to Claire thinking about her own children someday? The idea of this even for non-book-readers is fascinating, since there are so many rules and potential breaks in the time continuum that could come from this. In theory, Claire’s own children could be older than she is, and be long gone before Frank Randall ever knows about their existence.
Perhaps we are reading too much into a simple synopsis, but speculation here is ultimately a rather-large part of the fun.
