Is ‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6, episode 18 new tonight? Wedding scoop ahead!
We begin this “Vampire Diaries” article with the requisite dose of bad news: There is no new episode airing on The CW Thursday night. You still have to wait two more weeks to see what happens next, but when the show does in fact return, there’s going to be some very exciting stuff ahead. After all, there are wedding bells! We don’t think that we really have to downplay the overall level of hype that we have for seeing Jo and Alaric get hitched; we root for the characters, but going along with that, weddings are not something we see in this world very often. Funerals tend to be so much more its speed.
With this in mind, anytime two characters get a chance to say “I do,” it is quite an experience worth watching play out. This is probably even more so when you consider what these two have been through already. Alaric was a vampire and at one point dead, whereas Jo had to deal with the fact that her brother is Kai, and that’s not an easy person to grow up with.
So could this guy get a wedding invite? Don’t count on it, based on what Jodi Lyn O’Keefe had to say in a new interview with TVLine:
“Jo is still really fearful of her brother, and rightly so. I mean, he slaughtered her entire family when they were kids, and I’m not sure how much we can trust his change, even with Luke’s influence over him.”
One other important aspect of this story to make note of is what Jo’s pregnancy could do to Elena. For a long time, it felt like she was starting to be completely accepting of her role as a vampire. However, we’re not entirely sure that is the case anymore. With a cure potentially in play, could she try to seek out everything that Jo is suddenly going to have? Emotionally, these are higher stakes than she has seen in a while.
