‘Better Call Saul’: Bob Odenkirk to stay busy during hiatus with Netflix series

Better Call Saul season 1You most-likely assumed already that Bob Odenkirk is one busy guy, given that he recently starring “Fargo” and has dominated the majority of the screentime during the first season of “Better Call Saul.” Wouldn’t you assume that the guy would want to take a little bit of a break?

As it turns out, for him trying to break really just means going back to some of his sketch-comedy roots and having a little fun. This is why you should not be too surprised that the “Mr. Show” alum is now taking on a different sort of challenge over on Netflix: A sketch series entitled “With Bob and David.” Four half-hour episodes are coming to Netflix, and it will feature Odenkirk alongside his longtime collaborator and friend David Cross. There will also be an hour-long “making of” special released to go along with the show itself. With the pedigrees present here, it’ll be fun to give this a watch just to see what ideas the two come up with.

Both Odenkirk and Cross have unique relationships in a way now to Netflix. Cross is a cast member on “Arrested Development,” which was acquired by the streaming service and a fourth season was made. There is still a demand for another batch of episodes, but nothing seems to be completely in the works at this very moment. Interestingly, this show on the service is one of the reasons why Netflix original programming skyrocketed in the first place.

Meanwhile, the first season of “Better Call Saul” should be available for viewing not long after the finale airs on AMC. This is another way that the network drums up attention for the show, which has already been renewed for another batch of episodes.
