‘Survivor: Worlds Apart’ episode 7 review: The merge, and the Jenn / Hali dilemma
The first thing that we have to say about Wednesday night’s “Survivor: Worlds Apart” episode is rather simple: We really hope that the “twist” involving the new merged tribe is not the real twist that Jeff Probst was hyping up preseason. If so, then that is the most overhyped and biggest let down ever. It’s almost as insane as naming your merged tribe Merica rather than at least trying to honor local culture.
From here, what we had was yet another super-exciting merge episode, but with one little qualm about it as a whole: How did Jenn find out the votes were coming her way? If it was pure chance and she played the idol based on intuition, that is one thing. However, if there was a conversation that took place, that would’ve been more interesting to find out. Judging from the vote, which told us that Will did flip to Blue Collar and that most of White Collar stuck with them, it feels almost like this was just random on her part.
So while we applaud Jenn for the great move and Joe for winning immunity, are they really going to have the numbers next week? This may be just a temporary win for them to be excited about, since the targets will soon start to move about the camp. We also wonder now where this leaves Will, mostly because he bailed on his old alliance, and then was obviously on the outside of his new one. Not entirely the best move here by the Blue Collars.
Ultimately, what makes this episode so interesting is that there’s a little bit of chaos that is all across the board here, and it doesn’t seem like there will be a straight-up Pagong situation. With that being said, if the Blue Collar group does splinter, Jenn may be poised to win the whole game. Her bond with Joe and Hali seems to be the purest, strongest one out there. Grade: B+.
