‘The View’ really wants Monica Lewinsky to guest co-host
Despite what you may think after reading this title, we don’t quite believe that this is some sort of cruel April Fools’ joke: Monica Lewinsky may actually be in the process of being courtesy for a guest-hosting gig on “The View” moving forward.
According to a report from Deadline, the controversy woman at the center of the Bill Clinton cheating scandal in the 1990s has received an invite to join the show as a guest co-host, though it is unclear if she will accept at this point. Maybe Lewinsky will have some interesting points of view on various subjects, but is she someone who people would want to see on more than one occasion? The ceiling for getting her would be just a one-off guest-hosting stint in our mind, if they get her at all.
“The View” is desperate for almost any traction, given that Rosie O’Donnell recently quit to take care of matters in her personal life, the show’s ratings have started to struggle and it has even been defeated on occasion by rival show “The Talk,” which basically took its entire premise and threw some CBS elements up on the stage. They need to do a few things to bring more attention to their revamp, but is Lewinsky really the key to anything? Until this report we hadn’t thought about her in years!
As the original report clearly noted, one of the interesting implications that could come out of hiring Lewinsky would be the reaction from Hillary Clinton and her team, especially if she were to make a run for President. We would not imagine that there would be any direct conflicts here, but this may not be the sort of distraction Hillary would want if she does choose to enter the spotlight on such a level in the next year and a half.
If nothing else, at least “The View” is not replacing half of its entire roster like “Fashion Police.”
