‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2, episode 16 preview: Luke Mitchell’s arrival; Coulson’s quest

Agents of SHIELD -Agents of SHIELD” tonight kicked off the entire Real SHIELD storyline into high gear, courtesy of Bobbi and Mack making their move with the help of Gonzales. Skye was forced to build her powers with the help of the ever-mysterious man with no eyes (anymore) Gordon, while Coulson escaped at the suggestion of Melinda May. The group is somewhat shattered, and their fearless leader has to figure out how to unite everyone yet again … though it is not going to be easy.

The good news for him? Skye is about to have a valuable new ally in Lincoln (Luke Mitchell), someone who understands fully what she is going through. Coulson may be the emotional support system she needs, but he cannot fully relate to her in the same way. The synopsis below teases his arrival, but unfortunately doesn’t do much else to set up the remaining story:

“As Robert Gonzalez makes his move, Coulson must do whatever it takes to protect the future of S.H.I.E.L.D. Meanwhile, Skye’s journey to control her powers takes a surprising turn when she meets the enigmatic Inhuman named Lincoln.”

As the promo below reveals, Skye seems to be undergoing the worst acupuncture ever, while Coulson realizes how dire the straits are now that he has lost both SHIELD and also Skye within the span of a single day. This story is going to continue on this arc, but don’t expect a guarantee that they will resolve it. Given how much time was spent setting up the Real SHIELD, it would not shock us if this story continued to remain a part of the fabric until the end of the season.
