‘The Walking Dead’ spin-off now has a title, logo

Well, the majority of the internet most-likely saw this one coming: The much-anticipated spin-off show for “The Walking Dead” now has a title: “Fear the Walking Dead.” Yep, that’s it. This is the same title that was previously reported on / speculated for weeks, but it is nice to actually know that we can start calling this now out of fear (ironic, no?) of it being changed. This was confirmed courtesy of comic author / executive producer Robert Kirman on Twitter.

Ultimately, this is a pretty terrible title, mostly because there is no easy way to abbreviate this. FTWD? Fear the Dead? The Walking Fear? Another Zombie Show? We don’t really think the show needed the entire title of the original show for everyone to understand just what it is.

Story-wise, the show is a little more promising. It revolves around some of the early days of the zombie apocalypse, and also in a very different part of the country in Los Angeles. Cliff Curtis and Kim Dickens are two of the stars of the show, which is preparing for a launch later this summer.

As we reported previously, the first promo for the spin-off’s six-episode first season is going to air during the finale of “Talking Dead” on Sunday. This to us feels like somewhat of a mistake, since the flagship show draws even more viewers and attention. The only real way this makes sense is if you actually speak everyone to watch the aftershow just for the sake of seeing the promo. Let’s just hope that it is worth the wait.

What do you think about this title: Should it be turned into a zombie and promptly killed off? Share right now with a comment.
