ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4, episode 17 review: Cyrus’ wedding and Sally Langston’s return
Tonight, “Scandal” told a story that could have been romantic for most part. Instead, what we had was more evidence that it was perpetually raining all over Cyrus’ world. He was getting married to Michael, but at the same time the entire ceremony was a sham start to finish. This was a all a way to smooth over headlines, and prove to be opportunistic for all of the White House.
The more than we saw flashbacks of Cyrus’ time with Janet and James, the sadder we became by seeing all of this play out. Michael was not like either one of them; Cyrus didn’t necessarily love or care about him in the same way. They were living together, but in separate parts of the house. Yet at the same time, there was a strange sense of self-awareness between these two men. Michael may be a prostitute, but he had many positive attributes that Cyrus pointed out times before the ceremony. There may not be much between these two, but at least there is honesty.
For a time, it looked like this wedding was not going to happen. Sally Langston returned to the scene, and used her news program mostly to try to bring down the hammer on Cyrus’ new marriage. It took Olivia digging up some dirt on her ex in order to stop her from putting all the dirty laundry on TV.
Is there hope for Michael and Cyrus? Maybe, but at the end of the episode, it was also revealed that there was also a tiny bit of hope for Olivia and Fitz. Did you notice that ring at the end? We’re sure that you did! Grade: B+.

Please improve the writing. The whole wedding plot was contrived. Olivia’s PTSD is getting tiresome. Abby needs to go back to David. Huck needs a psychiatrist and he should use some of the B whatever money to pay for it. Quinn needs to go home to Kansas or wherever she is from before she ends up like Huck. Sally needs a couch too since she is a religious fanatic and murderer: how does that mesh? Mellie is never going to taken seriously as a candidate so let that plot go. Fitz needs a real woman because Liv and Mellie are too confused about what they really want. A new woman in his life would really be interesting because how will those two react to Fitz in love and being loved fully in return.
