‘Last Comic Standing,’ ‘Welcome to Sweden,’ Craig Robinson comedy receive premiere dates
NBC is clearly trying to map out at this point the entirety of their summer lineup, and this includes giving us a few premiere dates we certainly have been waiting for.
Let’s start here with “Last Comic Standing,” which is undergoing a slight makeover for the new season. Norm McDonald of “Saturday Night Live” fame has been added to the judging panel, while Anthony Jeselnik is now going to be the host in the place of JB Smoove. For the most part, we are down for these moves other than that having four judges seems like a heck of a lot of cooks in the kitchen. This new season is officially going to start come Wednesday, July 22 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. After the first week, the show will shift back to airing at 10:00, which suggests to us that we are going to have a two-hour premiere to get things started for the series.
As for some other news…
1. “Welcome to Sweden” is going to return come Sunday, July 19 at 8:00 p.m., which is a pretty bizarre start time to a comedy. Then again, ratings expectations are low here given that the show is an import.
2. We were really exciting to see the return of Craig Robinson to the network. Unfortunately, with “Mr. Robinson” premiering come Wednesday, August 5 at 9:00, we’re starting to wonder if the episodes that were filmed are just going to be burned off.
3. Tuesday, July 7 at 10:00 will be the return of “Hollywood Game Night,” just in case you love famous people taking part in various shenanigans.
In case you missed it, we’ve already shared the premiere date for the new season of “America’s Got Talent” right now over at the link here. Also, be sure to sign up today in the event you want some further TV updates on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: NBC.)
