‘Chicago PD’ season 2, episode 17 review: A small step for Halstead, Lindsay

Chicago PD -While “Chicago PD” is a show that can at times be extremely chaotic, there was something rather fun to us about seeing some of the elements of peace that came through Wednesday night’s new episode. After all, much of the story was themed around a World Trade Conference that should have been about peace, and at times instead was a horror story for Intelligence to navigate. There were protests, crimes connected to protest, and some of the most intense negotiations that we’ve seen on the show.

In a way, what made this episode so fascinating to us above all else was the continued character study of Lindsay and Halstead as a couple. There are two people who in many ways still love and care about each other, even if they are deciding for now to keep their distance. Watching them vs. Dawson and Casey on “Chicago Fire” is an interesting comparison. Both are fun pairings to root for, but they handle being on the job in different ways.

One of the sweetest moments tonight was when Sophia Bush’s character met Halstead’s brother, who may be thinking about sticking around town for a while. (Is that a clue for “Chicago Med” hopefuls?) The fact that she’s met someone in his family is important, regardless of where they currently stand.

In the end, though, the interrogation scenes at the end and the repeated utterances of “Say Her Real Name” (the episode’s title) are what made it such a worthwhile one to watch. Grade: B-.
