‘Masters of Sex,’ ‘Ray Donovan’ season 3 premiere dates revealed by Showtime
Summer is a great time to watch Showtime, at least if you love either thrilling action or deep, profound drama. “Ray Donovan” and “Masters of Sex” form a great one-two punch that way.
Today, the network confirmed that each one of these shows is going to once again be back this summer, and on the same night: Sunday, July 12. Once again, “Ray Donovan” will lead into the Michael Sheen – Lizzy Caplan drama, and each one of them will run for 12 episodes. Based on our look at the schedule, these shows would run straight to Sunday, September 27 if there is no hiatus for Labor Day Weekend. This would place the premiere of “Homeland” season 5, pending it starts around the time it did last year, on Sunday, October 4.
These two shows still may have a whole lot to prove to viewers this fall, at least from the vantage point that neither one of them has necessarily received the credit that many feel they deserve. While Sheen received some acclaim for the first season alongside his co-star, it was almost completely shut out at the Golden Globes this past year. Its status for the upcoming Emmys still remains to be seen, given that this is when season 2 will be eligible. Meanwhile, most of the acclaim for “Ray Donovan” has gone to Jon Voight more so than star Liev Schreiber or the rest of the cast.
We’ll just have to see if either one of these series could step up their game.
