‘Fargo’ season 2 spoilers: Bruce Campbell to play … Ronald Reagan?

Fargo season 2The following almost surely qualifies under “news that we never saw coming in almost any situation.” For its upcoming second season, “Fargo” is at least taking a partial page out of history and casting Ronald Reagan. What’s the twist? They have found a particular awesome man for the part.

According to TVLine, former “Burn Notice” star and “Evil Dead” icon Bruce Campbell has been cast to play the part of a pre-Presidential version of the famed actor. It is not entirely clear just what role he is going to have in this story, but given where Reagan comes from and where he goes, it’s safe to say that the show has no plans to rewrite history and turn him into a brutal murderer.

There is an added fun wrinkle to this casting, mostly in the form that Jeffrey Donovan a.k.a. Campbell’s longtime costar on “Burn Notice” is a recurring player on this particular show. While there is not necessarily any indication here that these two are going to be spending any time in scenes together, that is a rather unusual surprise (but one that we are definitely very excited to see).

While there is no premiere date revealed just yet for the upcoming second season of “Fargo,” our expectation is that it will come on FX at some point during the fall. Stay tuned, as we’re going to have so much more in the way of news on the show prior to that date. It’s looking already like it will be a good season!
