Is ‘Chicago Fire’ season 3, episode 19 new tonight on NBC?

Tonight, NBC is unfortunately not giving you what you really want … provided that “what you really want” here really is a new episode of “Chicago Fire.” There is no new episode of the series airing on the network tonight. As a matter of fact, there will not be a new episode at all airing until Tuesday, April 7.

So what is the long reason for the delay? It’s as simple as making sure that the show has enough story to go around for the rest of the season. NBC doesn’t want to end things until after the May sweeps, and they also want to make sure that they don’t hurry the editors behind the scenes along so much that the quality suffers. Making this show truly great takes a whole lot of time.

What we can tell you right now is that when the show does return, it will be doing so with an episode that is certainly going to be bringing some great stuff to the table … or at least some risky stuff. After all, this is the backdoor pilot for “Chicago Med.” Depending on how this is perceived by the public and also what the ratings are, it is possible that it may be brought onto the NBC fall schedule. We’re just going to have to wait and see for a little while longer when it comes to that. (A decision is smartly probably not going to be announced until late April / May.)
