Ratings: ‘Battle Creek’ hurt by late start; ‘Last Man on Earth,’ ‘Secrets & Lies’ up
Sunday night’s TV lineup was a little bit all over the place, and there is one main culprit hurting everyone… at least from a network point of view: College basketball. The decision to air the NCAA tournament, which ran late, caused some drops and weird ratings that have yet to be unscrambled.
While it is possible that “Battle Creek” could adjust up, let’s just say that for now, it’s not looking good for the CBS crime drama. The latest episode of the series drew just a 0.8 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, which is both down from last week and the show’s lowest rating to date. It has done a decent job of keeping people who watched the premiere; the issue here was that CBS did not really know how to market the series, and it never had a huge viewership to begin with. As of right now, this show has a 0.0001% chance of surviving, even if we do like it.
As for some good news elsewhere, “Last Man of Earth” may have with its 1.9 and 1.6 ratings last night managed to actually do enough to earn itself a second season. It’s Fox’s top-rated live-action comedy right now, so what else do they have?
As for another new series, “Secrets & Lies” on ABC rose to a 1.5, but we’re wary that it could adjust down in the finals given that it aired after “Once Upon a Time” (1.8, even with last week’s installment of the series). “Revenge” was flat with a 1.1.
