‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ season 7, episode 18 review: Phaedra Parks makes a divorce decision
Much of the season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” has been building for the most part to a very important moment, and it is not too hard to figure out just what this particular moment is: Phaedra Parks coming to the decision that she wants to divorce Apollo Nida.
Ultimately, this is a decision that many fans at home have been clearly advocating her to make for quite a while now, and there are a variety of different reasons for that. First and foremost, this is a guy who is in prison now for a variety of different terrible things, and that would be enough for some people. Then, there was all of the other drama that happened with him back at the house, where he started to make her feel legitimately afraid to be around him.
The ultimate reality here is that if she wanted a good environment for herself, she had no other choice. We understand wanting the children to have a presence from their father, but you have to also do what is right for you. This episode, while emotional, was one of Phaedra’s strongest moments – it’s difficult to not want to root for her!
Elsewhere, NeNe Leakes did not return to the counseling session, but at least some of the other ladies stayed and worked through some of their issues; also, they still decided to find a way to reach out to NeNe, mostly to prove that there was still some effort being made.
While not eventful all that much outside of the Phaedra story, tonight’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta” still made for compelling TV. Grade: B-.
