‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’: Mila Kunis joins Tom Hanks as first-night guest
Regardless of who is the host, it has to be considered a huge honor to be the first guest for a late-night talk show. That more or less means that someone out there finds you so entertaining that they are willing to open the show with you.
It was first announced many weeks ago that Tom Hanks was going to be one of the first guests for “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” and we specifically no know who is going to be joining him on CBS: Mila Kunis. As we said this past week, this show is taking on a format similar to “The Graham Norton Show” in that the guests for the night are going to come out at the same time, which makes for a little looser of a conversation than something that you are going to see on one of the other talk shows. We’re very interested by this idea, even if its tradition dates all the way back to Johnny Carson. While there are certainly going to moments here and there where this could be awkward and not entertaining at all, the net positives are worth the risk. Corden has to do something to stand out right away.
The second night of the show will feature Chris Pine and Patricia Arquette, which Arquette being the first star of a CBS series (“CSI: Cyber”) to cross-promote on another show. She’s also coming off of a big win for “Boyhood.”
In the end, We’re going to be rather excited to see how Corden fares on the series. This is not going to be something that clicks right away, mostly because few shows like this do. However, over time something truly special could come out of this.
