‘Battle Creek’ episode 4 preview: Will Dean Winters, Josh Duhamel sniff out a crime?

Battle Creek -We’ve stated many times now that we’ve come to enjoy “Battle Creek” very much on CBS. After all, this is a very different sort of show than the one we’re used to watching: It has some great mysteries in it so far, but also enough humor for you to realize that not every episode is going to be the same cut-and-dry thing. We just hope that more people discover this and start watching, however difficult that may be, before the end of the season.

Sunday night’s new episode is going to put a certain four-legged friend front and center, and the sneak peeks below give you a better sense of just what to expect over the course of the hour.

1. The search for a hound – This clip is particularly fun. In it, Dean Winters and Josh Duhamel’s characters get into a fun debate. For Russ, he is mostly just curious as to why Milt is in Battle Creek in the first place; meanwhile, the latter is busy trying to solve a crime. He determines that there are no fingerprints left at the scene; however, there is a dog-print, which means that all they need to do is find the matching canine, and they can then find the killer so much easier. The closing line at the end here is pretty priceless, mostly in that it shows the key differences between our two leads.

2. A complication – This scene, which adds Kal Penn to the mix, makes things all the more confusing. By this time in the episode, Dean Winters and Josh Duhamel’s characters think that they have figured out the dog at the center of the crime. They also have seemingly determined that the owner is in the bathroom of a fast-food joint. The problem? Inside the bathroom was a kid, and they had guns pointed right at him. Major oops, and of the most traumatizing variety. They may spend so much time on an apology tour after this that the real killer gets away.
