‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 spoilers: Watch a new Kit Harrington scene (video)
Ever since the end of the Battle at the Wall, Jon Snow has taken on a progressively more important role among the Night’s Watch on “Game of Thrones.” After all, his status as a potential leader here has become more and more recognized. His people know of his association know with Mance Rayder, and that can be an asset. Sure, it could also be a liability, but he at least knows his strengths and weaknesses better than anyone.
This scene as a whole is spent mostly politicking between the two characters. Snow realizes that Rayder did a lot of great things for the Wildings in a way, given that he was able to unify so many different people from a wide away of tribes. However, that may be all for naught if he chooses to do battle with Stannis Baratheon right away.
This is a tricky position for almost every party to be in going into this season. Stannis clearly believes now that the North is the key to the throne, and he may be in the best position now that he has been in since the end of the Battle of Blackwater. If he can ensure that there is at least calm between his army and the Wildings, King’s Landing right now is reasonably vulnerable. Tywin Lannister is gone, Cersei is still in mourning over Joffrey, and Tyrion has fled with Varys aboard a ship to ensure that he is not found in connection with his nephew’s death.
While HBO has not confirmed whether or not this sneak peek is from the April 12 premiere, it is far to say that we will be seeing it sooner rather than later.
