‘Orphan Black’ season 3 spoilers: Series boss on Cosima’s recovery
At the end of season 2 of “Orphan Black,” we saw Cosima go through what was very much a near-death experience for her. However, even though she was in great danger, she somehow was still able to make it through and prepare for a big part in season 3.
What we’d say for now, though, is that don’t expect this Tatiana Maslany clone to have anything that is even remotely close to what she did on this past season. For more on this subject, let’s turn to a man who really knows what he is doing in executive producer John Fawcett. Speaking in a new interview right away with Entertainment Weekly, he explained the story for this character by saying that season 2 really is a stepping stone:
“The interesting thing about Cosima is she came very close to dying and that wasn’t something that we took lightly … That wasn’t something that we did to try and scare the audience, that really was the beginning of a new journey for Cosima in season 3. The fact that she has come that close to death, that she essentially had a near-death experience, changes her because she can’t explain what happened to her. It puts this character, who is so entrenched in the science, in this place where she’s now looking for answers beyond science.”
Obviously, Cosima has her own new challenges this season, but so do Sarah and the other clones. Having new ones present (played by Ari Millen) will certainly allow for that.
