ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4, episode 16 review: What happened to Lena Dunham’s Sue?
We know that Lena Dunham probably wanted the full experience on “Scandal” Thursday night, and after watching the episode, we have to say that she got it and then some. She was front and center for the majority of the story, as her character of Sue had a book stuffed full of some of Washington’s sex secrets.
Did she had a reason for doing it? As it turns out, it was a way for her to recover from being severely abused by a former boss, who ultimately caused her to lose her job. This book was in a way about revenge, and trying to cling to something.
Ultimately, we feel like Dunham got the whole “Scandal” experience when her character was killed off in stunning fashion, and then we saw a number of bizarre things done “in Sue’s memory,” including watching Abby get frisky. Olivia did the same thing, but with a man not named Fitz or Jake. Isn’t it fiar to say that this complicates matters a little bit? We like to think so.
Also in this episode, we did get a little bit more development on B613, but not really enough to satisfy us. The truth here is that this was one of the more uneventful episodes of “Scandal” that we’ve seen over the course of the entire season. While we enjoyed almost everything that was brought to the table, we still have to acknowledge that there really was not that much that actually happened that we’ll care about in a week’s time. Grade: B.
