‘Empire’ season 2 spoilers: Exec on Lucious’ real name, early plans

As of right now, maybe you are just starting to unravel a little after that “Empire” finale. How was it for you? Hopefully, it at least got you excited with all of the different directions the story can go in next. Just think about the possibilities for a minute here, given that you have Lucious Lyon now under arrest for the murder of Bunky, Andre expecting a child, and Jamal completely against Cookie after feeling like she sold his father out to the police.

One of the smaller, more powerful moments of the entire episode came when it was revealed that Dwight Walker is Lucious’ real name, and he told it to Jamal despite never telling it to Cookie. Is there a certain significant to this name itself? That is something that executive producer Danny Strong chatted about after the fact to Deadline, even if he did not give away much:

“I can’t just give those things away. You’re just going to have to keep watching because I bet you it may not go away.”

Strong also added that the writers are just now in the process of coming up with overall ideas for the show’s second season, and it is due to that they don’t want to lock themselves into anything specific just yet. We understand that, and the show definitely has a long ways to go before any new episodes are coming on the air in the first place. what we do know is that there is a cliffhanger that will have to be resolved, given that there is no way we see Lucious locked up in prison forever.
