‘Sleepy Hollow’ season 3 official; ‘The Glades’ exec in as showrunner

More -Good news, sleepyheads: Fox is not making you wait until May to learn the fate of “Sleepy Hollow.”

Today, the network confirmed that they are renewing the Tom Mison – Nicole Beharie series for a third season, and that it will also comprise of 18 episodes. We’re a little surprised about the later part of this; we preferred the 13-episode order personally, since it added greater stakes and allowed the show to not have as much in the way of filler. They also announced that Clifton Campbell, former creator of “The Glades” and executive producer on “White Collar,” will be taking over as showrunner. He replaces Mark Goffman, who was with the show since the beginning. He anchored even more of the second season, given that the first sometimes had a too-many-cooks-in-the-kitchen vibe with Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and a variety of other people all involved. (Strangely, it actually translated to a better season.)

In a statement, Fox president David Madden had the following to say:

“I had the pleasure of working with Clifton on both The Glades and White Collar … He is an excellent producer, and we can’t wait to see what this team has in store for Season 3.”

We always felt confident that “Sleepy Hollow” would be renewed. While its ratings were far from great at the end of season 2, losing the much-maligned Katrina and giving the show a new direction could convince some to come back who may have given up on the series. Granted, if season 3 stumbles in any way, we imagine that Fox would then not be hesitant to send it to the guillotine. There are only so many chances a show can get.
