‘Chicago Fire’ season 3, episode 19 preview: The ‘Chicago Med’ backdoor pilot

Chicago Fire -When “Chicago Fire” returns to NBC on Tuesday, April 7, let’s just say that you are going to get to see something that is completely different. Specifically, you are going to see the backdoor pilot to a show that NBC very much wants to have on the air next season: “Chicago Med.” Already, the network has done a very good job building up this potential part of the universe. We’ve heard about it for years, and featuring the doctors there seem to be a natural extension. After all, the police and firefighters both have reasons to occasionally be there.

The question that we do have at the moment is rather simple: Is there going to be a way in which this show actually stands out? One of the biggest issues we are feeling with the show is simply an issue of trying to figure out how this show can differentiate from “The Night Shift” or “Grey’s Anatomy.” There are already so many hospital shows that are out there, and this is not even the only medical pilot.

As far as we can tell, the network has yet to decide what to do about this backdoor pilot, and ultimately, they may actually wait until the May sweeps to figure things out. They want to see what you as the viewing public ultimately think about this installment.

We’re going to have more more on “Chicago Med” before it airs, so stay tuned!
